When the Triple A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals sought a new venue in Nebraska, several sites and configurations were proposed. This one incorporated the stadium within a mixed-use district of retail and entertainment, with office and hospitality at the periphery. The entrance to the stadium is situated at the major intersection of the district, allowing for the creation of a large public commons that can accommodate large grounds on game days, and street amenities the remainder of the time.
