Abbot Park was a proposed mixed-use development located on an undeveloped parcel of land adjoining Abbott Labs in the Village of North Chicago. Working with both the Village and Abbott a number of "districts," distinct but interconnected were designed around natural wetlands that weaved in and out of parts of the site, providing a natural amenity and glue to hold the disparate parts of the development together. The nature of the streets surrounding the site was used to determine the character of the development adjoining it: a dense retainl/residential/entertainment district along Buckley road directly across from Abbott Labs; a large promotional retail center along the heavily traveled Highway 41; and lower scale detached and semi-detached housing along Waukegan Road.
